MOL Food Gear 220 is a synthetic gear oil produced from PAO (PolyAlphaOlefin) base oil and multiple function additives, that can be used in lubricants of drive gears operated in the food processing industry. It is a category H1 product registered by NSF: "This product can be used as food-grade lubricant (H1) in the direct and indirect environment of food processing, where there is a possibility of incidental food contact." Compared with conventional mineral oil gear oils, its range of application temperatures is wider and its oxidation stability is better. It is recommended to wash out the system before the first filling, or to reduce the period of first oil change after filling in order to make sure that the outstanding lubricating ability of the liquid is retained, and that its non-toxic characteristics are ensured. This is particularly important if the system operated previously with a conventional (mineral oil based) lubricant.
